BAYREP is hosting a tour and presentation of 46 Blackstone Street in Cambridge, home of the Harvard Green Campus Initiative. The Blackstone Office Renovation Project recently received Platinum LEED rating, the highest possible certification under the LEED program for green buildings. This $10 million, 40,000 sf project was designed by Bruner/Cott & Associates and carried out by Consigli Construction Co. The complex will use 30 percent less energy than required by current building codes. This efficiency is the result of many features: insulation, a heat-reflecting roof, an abundance of natural lighting that minimizes the need for artificial light during the day, energy recovery in the ventilation system, and a cooling system that uses groundwater from deep beneath the earth. More information including Case Study.

Co-hosting this special event will be Boston's new chapter of Emerging Green Builders and the Black Architects' Forum.

PARKING: It's tough to find non-resident parking around this site. You may try buying something at Whole Foods to park in their lot
(Blackstone St/River St).
